Maintenance
Please note: because we only use precious metals such as gold and silver, your jewelry should not give off black or green stains. Natural wear and tear from use is normal, but if you notice that your jewelry is giving off stains, this may mean that you may be allergic to silver or gold.
GOLD PLATED
All our jewelry is made of pure silver also known as sterling silver. The gold jewelry is gold plated. This is done by electroplating the jewelry with 18K gold. To prevent wear and tear and get the most out of your jewelry, we recommend these simple tips.
RHODIUM COATING
Rhodium is a precious metal, just like silver, gold and platinum. It is even more expensive than gold because it is so rare. A Rhodium coating is often used with silver jewelry because it makes silver so beautiful. It gives silver the color and shine of white gold, but it also ensures that silver does not turn black because it prevents oxidation. To enjoy your Rhodium plated jewelry as long as possible, you can use the tips below.
CARE
The nature of gold plating means you need to be careful when wearing gold plated jewelry. It is important to remember that all precious metals are subject to natural wear and tear and can eventually oxidize or fade. This makes maintenance and love necessary.
Take off your jewelry before exercising, washing hands, showering, swimming, or doing anything with moisture. Contact with liquid can cause oxidation. This means that the gold coating will wear out faster. Water is not a problem, but contact with excessive exposure to, for example, perspiration and perfumes can do this.
You do not have to regularly clean your jewelry. The more you rub or polish, the faster the gold coating will wear. We recommend using lukewarm soapy water with a little washing-up liquid in it. This works perfectly against grease. Use the included polishing cloth to dry your jewelry. Do not apply too much pressure when rubbing, be careful and make sure your jewelry is completely dry.
Do not use harsh chemicals or cleaners that are not specifically made for gold plated jewelry.
Store your jewelry in the jewelry box provided or a secure box or airtight container out of direct sunlight and away from heat.
Be extra careful with your gems, they can chip or become loose if dropped or stored incorrectly.
Tip: Do you like to always have your jewelry on? Apply a thin layer of clear nail polish over your jewelry. The nail polish will form a barrier between jewelry and your skin, making it less likely to oxidize due to perfumes and cosmetics, for example.
